Joyce's Galway link

Nora Barnacle inspired Joyce in much of his literary endeavors. The voice of Molly Bloom in "Ulysses", and the sad memories of Greta Conroy in “The Dead”, in his book of short stories "Dubliners", gained inspiration from this lady from the west of Ireland.

‘The first day they went walking together was June 16, 1904, and Joyce always regarded it so romantically that he made it Bloomsday, the day everything happens in Ulysses.’

The museum/house is currently closed to the public.
